Smooth Jazz Sound and Equipment Needed

I'm trying to experiment with getting a smooth jazz tone and have a mixer, instrument mic with stand, and a compressor so far. Other than an amp/speakers, what other equipment would I need?

I'm thinking in terms of an EQ and sound processing like reverb but I'm not sure.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I assume this is for live use, not a recording from the amp/speakers?

As long as you've got a condenser microphone that accurately captures the saxophone and decent quality pre amps in the mixer then you're sorted, the compressor will help but be very cautious of using compression, it's very easy to over compress and squeeze the sound.

But whatever gear you've got you'll be limited by the PA at the venue. Personally I find I use different settings at every gig. you change the EQ to suit the amp and speakers. I don't tend to compress much at all either as I use a clip on so I'm always the same distance from the mic.
