I haven't yet really apart from Peter Gunn, love that. This week should be better though.

I haven't done as much as I'd liked. Although I have been battling with scales and arps.

Peter Gunn is so good, love it.

Unfortunately, Kirsty has decided that the living room needs a complete refit, strip wall paper, make walls good, new carpet new suite new TV corner unit and the destruction of my collection or rare British spiders and associated webbing. Sob sob.

Ah well hope to some good practice later this week when I get the walls painted, I don't know whats wrong with magnolia?

Hi Sharon,

It went well. I had no idea what to set up for the meet so I read through some of the posts. Phil had talked about improvisation around chord structures so I took a guitar along. The idea was to take a 12 bar blues chord progression, work out the triads and blues scales, transpose them to the relevent key for alto and tenor and then try playing them along with me on guitar.
Dave Gungehead, however, had everything laid out on a chart he'd made so we were able to spend more time improvising on the triads (chase the chords) and the in various keys on the blues scale of the root chord.
I think everyone learned something and I got to meet a great bunch of blokes! Win win all round!!

Hi Sharon, i was one of the lads with Pauly, have to agree we had good fun. I personally learnt a lot. There were times when it actualy sounded musical.lol. Pauly was a demon on his gee tar... We had a great day. We'll no doubt get to work on some tunes in the coming weeks. What is this Pete Gunn piece?

Well Taz, i know it might sound strange but i have never seen the film. I lived out of the Uk for over 20 years and only came back a few years ago. I just bought a new sax don't think i can afford any dvd's :erm: :erm: :erm:
Pauly did warn me about you though...
Sharon has sent me the music so i'll be playing that tonight on my new sax. ( did i mention i just bought a new sax..... ) lol. 😛

well well, i'm actually 47 now. Those teenage years have gone. I think i get the point. Pauly bring that bloody film. i bet none of you have seen jamom jamon ( almodovar film ) or read la nuit des temps ( french book by Barjavel )Hah! who hasn't lived now. Sorry i lived in Germany France and Spain so not much allusion to "the blues brothers". At least i have the music now..Back to work. Got two hour lesson tonight, can't wait.

Another great practice day today, thank you to everyone who attended today. Helen made some lovely chocolate biscuits which were appreciated by all.
Are there any others that would like to join us? Our next meeting i on the 10th January 2009 . Beginners upwards are all welcome.

Back to the thread.....Yes a great session, nice to meet Jane 2, good task mistress!

If we can concentrate on the just the three pieces for now, Bond, Gunn and Lets Call''', I think that is preferrable?

Its certainly starting to come together, my sight reading skills are improving no end!
