Sax with missing parts

This sax is without a crook.... is it possible to get just the crook from somewhere else?

What is an "end stop" ?

Hi Tommy

crooks can be bought separately in many music shops - such as sax.co.uk or howarth or dawkes. The end stop is usually the little circular plastic top that you put in the top of the sax after the crook is removed before you put it in the case - it protects the octave key connection to the crook.

You will have one with your sax though may not be familiar with the name.

Tom is right, you can get crooks they usually aren't cheap though.

End plugs are around a couple of pounds.

I am wondering though why the company that imports theses saxes are advertisingone without the crook and the ancillaries - you would think they would be in the best position to get the replacements!

The cheapest Alto crooks I could find were Yamaha 275/475 crooks (Dawkes) at ?75. Others are just under ?100.

cheers.... it seems to be very expensive to get just the crooks...

are all the crooks of same size?

be careful what you buy.. there are so many really crappy saxes out there, if your looking to buy then try first..don't buy a cheap sax without the crook that gos with it, you may never get one that works with the sax. I'm not saying buy an expensive horn just one from a company that will work and not let you down, with a warranty. some firms even do a try then buy, if you don't like it they give you most of your cash back..
as i have said many time on this forum a sax is a tool and needs to work properly other wise it's not worth having.
i wouldn't touch this sax with a barge pole

not all crook are the same size, the octave key varies from crook to crook as does the tenon - the part that goes into the body.
