Mouthpieces Am I missing the point here??????

Madness. Not even a description either, and he has the cheek to want to charge twenty quid delivery on a mouthpiece he's asking £1500 for. Just the one lousy photo? He's having a laugh.

Hi

This is all to do with collectors, not players. Its very obvious that you can get a M.P. hand made for that money. If even ten years ago someone had told me I could received £400 or more for an early Babbit Link I would of said they were mad.
It is Mad!.. but maybe that is because I do not have the kind of money to buy something to put in a glass cabinet. Playing sax is a wonderful hobby for anyone....even very rich dude's. I have met guys that can only play a few tunes...& they have gear I would die for. one guy I know has hand-full's of old Link's and Meyer's
And whats more ...can talk about this stuff like they have been playing sax right out of the womb.

This is an early Meyer with a design that was quickly discarded, cos the cut away in the table basically didn't work (see either Theo Wanne or the Mouthpiece museum, can't remember which).

So as such it's old, not desireable as a player..... And the pice is insane, even for a collector.

Ok Al.
Was it you who sent the p**s taking question to the ad?
If not, why not?

I know it's ridiculous.
Like buying a Ferrari 250 GTO for $22,000,000 you'd be so intimidated you'd be afraid of taking it out.
But if you'd bought it new for about $18,000 your investment would have beaten anything.
Plus it's a bloody sight prettier than a manky old mouthpiece!

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
