Regulating action.

Hi,
I checked over my tenor (Prelude by Selmer) last night for leaks after being puzzled as to why I kept on finding water on the bell. I found 1, the A key.

while this key is fine and seals perfectly when you press it down, when you press the F key down it appears to seal but doesn't quite seal properly and there is a visible gap. So I played lots and lots of low notes and soon enough I caught water leaking out and some low notes weren't speaking.

So this means it's the action not the cup (right?)

How do I go about adjusting this to get it seating right?

EDIT:

I fiddled around and worked it out, all sorted now.
I lowered a few keys on my Alto as well by a bit, slightly more comfortable and the lower notes seem more stable. Very nice.

ok .. i think i know the piece your talking about..
on my mk6 there is a little rod that controls the Bb and g#
keys just above the f key.. there are 2 little screws that you can adjust..hope this is the cure you need.. other wise post a few photos showing exactly where your leak is..

Did you notice the edit when you read it? 😛

Thanks for the advice though, I had the same system on my sax. It was pretty obvious once I'd had a look at it. I thought I'd ask just in case there was something I hadn't seen I needed to take into consideration. The low notes are slightly easier now, though I wasn't particularly struggling with them before.

This info might become useful for someone else in the future.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
