Reeds reeds project

Here's a drastic one...guarantee to get rid of all those stinky mouldy reeds in your cupboard for years:
get some strings and fashion some skirts, trunks, bras and hats made of layers of bored reeds - oh, some necklaces too...then organize an Hawaiian party - done!

If you don't have enough reeds for the above here's a more modest project: got a broken umbrella? start gluing reeds from around the circumference building gradually up to the top (like building a slated roof) - boy, you'll have a very fashionable item! (actually, I think I'll do this one).

Would the umbrella be kept open, or would you need to work round the frame to enable it to open and close?

I have a broken one which is foldable - this is more of a problem but still it is worth doing it just for kicks (keep it open all the time)...but I don't have enough reeds for it...still a good excuse for keep saving them.

Over recent months people I work with have seemed to hint that I may be getting senile and at the tender age of 63 this leaves a worrying prospect for the future,but after reading this thread I have been lifted by the fact that I am obviously not alone .....John

Ok, I'll have your reeds then...(I might be able to gather enough of them for my super fabulous reed's umbrella).;}
