Yeah tha guy Matt makes it look easy.
Anyone remember your first experience cooking bacon crispy while still in the frying pan !

Thank you 🤗!
There’s just something about old horns that is satisfying… touching one.
That being making them mechanically the best possible or playing one well.
Love and appreciation is the best of both. Hours spent to achieve either.
The efforts to achieve the very best of long ago….
The patience and understanding.
The uniqueness of imperfections appreciated to those few daring to try to do better .
The enjoyment of what it is, not what it is not.
Those who seek to live truly to enjoy one’s efforts .
Some are better than others. Nobody plans on a bad day.
Each is special and to be embraced.
Such is life.

I try every single day

Get a room.

I didn’t even think this was close to a poem. I just inked the box with words.
Had to show Ma Squealer the “Warrior Poet Pig”. She was rolling in laughter. Then she saw “ Get a room “. I thought she was going to bust in half laughing so hard. Thanks guys, you made my day

When you dream of 3D printing one of these for your C melody.

I have acquired an early piece it and appears to be the handiwork of Charles Black at a very low pice. I bought it from the original owner, a Doctor who has owned it since new in the 80s. The owner had recently switched to a 7 JodyJazz Super Jet. I quizzed him on the piece as it has no facing number, he thought it is a 7 or 8. The piece shows signs of baffle work and thinner side rails but he swore that was how he bought it new in the 80's. These are all three signs of Black's handy work so I jumped on it.

I have not received it yet but once in hand I will try it on my C Melody and see how it plays. If not to my taste I will reach out to you about it. The cap is rough but the original lig appears to be in excellent shape.

I have too many pieces in the drawer.

Just working my way through your thread while watching/listening to NFL night games, first Sunday night with no gig for a few months.

Cheers

Been doing more than usual pad work with the needs of an 4mm hole. My inventory is all 3mm.
Made an upsizing punch kit for my press. Also an arbor for polishing Selmer domes.

It took a few tries to achieve good center and depth of cut.

Cut with leather facing downwards. A minor draw to one side. Good-N-Nuff.

Cleaning dome boosters is a pain. Lighter fluid removes and hopefully kills off the verdigris.
Note; Small volume. Metal cup grounded to work surface. Dry parts on tissue. Why ? Fire management. No flammable containers within reach too. Bench bottles are 1oz. and capped. Two fire extinguishers just beyond my bench out of work zone.
Plan on having a fire. Be prepared. Hope you never do. I have 3 exits…

Be careful of your fingers. That spinning disc is a meat slicer.

Nice! My tech sent the VI style brass resos out to be nickel plated for my 62S overhaul. Turned out great.
Sent me a preview fresh from the platers. 🙂View attachment 31754
That’s some high quality craftsmanship.
I’m looking into plating kit for nickel, silver & gold. Small pot “hobby craft” is allowed here.
I have a source for plating but only large items in copper, nickel or chrome. The California environmental laws basically killed the services here.

No one should live in Cali. According to the labels - touching anything or breathing causes cancer. 😀

I can only imagine how difficult it must be to deal with metals. Yikes!

I’m not sure where he sent the resos but they sure look purty.

Seems like places like Medford, Ore., Reno, Nev., Yuma, Ariz., would be doing banner business in hardware and paint stores, contract platers, etc. Time for a road trip? Stock up on Thompson's Water Seal, paint thinner, carburetor cleaner, gasoline generators, etc.?

I bought a quart can of naptha last time I was in Reno. The 3 oz (or is it 4?) bothles of Ronsonol don’t quite get it. Cost about the same. It’s ridiculous.

The local tobacco store just started carrying 1qt cans @ $7.25. The 5oz bottles for $6 at 7-11 stores I quit buying last year unless absolutely necessary. The tobacco store also has great prices on highly filtered butane.

The environmental laws in California is partly why 35,000+ manufacturing companies have closed or moved out of state.
New cleaners (soaps) solvent (petroleum), paint, wax, adhesives, resemble nothing made ten years ago.
Gas powered lawn mowers were removed from new sales last year.

@PigSquealer - there are many things I love about California but quite a few things that make it unattractive at the same time.

Your booze is much cheaper than here in WA. 🙂

The state income tax in conjunction with local sales taxes are pretty brutal though.

Being a guy that likes to sleep in - I’m not opposed to a ban on gas powered leaf blowers. 😀
I love my 80V electric one.

Admittedly for professionals you’d need about 200lbs worth of batteries to get through the day. That would suck.

The idea of gas powered lawn mowers and leaf blowers is rather an amusing image on this side of the Atlantic.
As is a gas powered car.
