Reeds Plastic reeds

Use Fibracells virtually all the time having got fed up with convincing myself that the latest box of Rico or Vandoren Supercalyfragilistics is the best ever but just to be different, use baritone reeds on my tenor.

I've tried the following

Plasticovers - pretty good, but sometimes at home I feel like they make me sound a bit like a Kazoo

Bari - awful, dull and lifeless

Fibracell - pretty good, play a bit soft. Needed a harder strength than I expected

Hartmann standard - very good, but cut my lips to bits

Hartmann Carbon Fibre - ludicrously bright, and cut my lips to bits.

After all these, gone back to good old RJS 2M. I reckon I reject 1 - 2 in an average box. Much better than when I used to play Rico Royal and I used to chuck about half of each box.

Having played around with the Plasticovers again recently I would probably use them as an alternative to the Superials which I can't always get. They are pretty consistent and although quite bright can be toned down too.

It has to be cane.

I also prefer...

cork instead of screw cap

It is annoying when you stick the corkscrew through the screw cap :cry:
