Theory & Impro Non linear music

Programmed midi clips, and some vst looping tools that have random chance controls within them. Then I've programmed or recorded parts of them, and inside the midi loops for example have alternate notes or groups of notes that could be played with a chance of whether they occur or not.

Alongside that, the sequencing of the loops is also random, so imagine that I have 5 loops for a particular part:-

Loop 1 is set so it has a 75% chance of repeating and a 25% chance of moving to any other loop
Loop 2 has a 10% chance of repeating, and a 90% chance of moving to loop 3.
Loop 3 has a 50% chance of moving to any other loop and a 50% chance of moving to loop 1.
Loop 4 has a 25% chance of moving to loop 2 and a 75% chance of moving to loop 3.
Loop 5 has a 75% chance of moving to loop 1 and a 25% chance of stopping ending the music.

So you might not even hear some of the music, and the order in which it's played will vary each time.
Love these ideas! These concepts could (and should) spur some serious creativity. I've always liked the concept of using aleatoric concepts in improvised music, using some outside randomization influence to lead creativity in a direction different from where my habits would normally lead me.

I have a few things in the pipeline and was discussing with some folk on SotW how to share for collaboration; essentially you’d have to hit record and play the first time to get it to have the desired impact, unless you had all the same tools. But I can do a few dump downs and everyone can practise to all the ones that aren’t theirs then record to a fresh take for a genuine performance.

Also treated myself to the spitfire chamber strings library, I want to do some of this stuff with strings with various cells for each part that work together but will be selected randomly….
