Mouthpieces for Tenor (Meyer)

Hi

Has anyone any knowledge about Meyer mouthpieces for Tenor Sax? I've been using an expensive metal Japanese mouthpiece for a while, with 2.5 Vandoren reeds, but I've been concerned that the sound is not warm enough.

I was going to try a Morgan, as recommended elsewhere on this forum but my tutor thinks a mouthpiece that's too easy to play will be counter productive.

So instead, my tutor has just sold me a Meyer black plastic Tenor mouthpiece, quite old I think, and this one has quite a wide chamber.. Anyway, I've put a 3 strength reed on it and it produces a really nice warm sound. I'm going to stick with this one.

Has anyone else used Meyer mouthpieces, and what do you think about them?

I tried a Meyer in All-agro in Oxford recently but wasn't that taken with it, I found it a bit anonymous, but thats just me I guess. I really Like the Selmer Soloist C** range greatly, though not enough to tempt me aware from my beloved Brilhart Super Ebolin 5*.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
