Haha, yes I would agree Davey, although I'm keeping the Lawton plate on there, doesn't alter the sound by much but sure holds that reed nice and tight! missing the vise like grip of the Lawton lig though!

I've had 4 or 5 FL ligs now and never had reeds slip so dont worry,there very tight and snug.If your happy with the sound etc thats all that matters in the end.Plus as i've said there so cool looking.Enjoy it.Your freeeeeeee

The T is for Tenor,Theres a A on the Alto plates,S on soprano plates.The guys wrong.The plate works both ways.Of course the lig only works 1 way but you dont have to have the T at the tip end but we all do of course.The key is dont tighten the screw to much so it tilts both ways and you get the true floating effect..

yes T for tenor etc i just meant the letter goes to the top 🙂 and i tried it both ways and for me there was a significant change when i put it the right way around, it opened up and gripped that reed a lot better but kept it free enough to be very bright, a sound i want

Had a sop,2 alto,2 tenor FL's.I heard a few posts on SOTW a few years back about a couple that snapped but like everything in the world you get a few things that break.I've never had any trouble with them.

Heres another to add to list great ligs have both alto and tenor reeds never slip mine's are maybe a bit older there's no way the pressure plate would bent on either, I had a Theo Wanne for a wee while and his is pretty much a variation of the Francois Louis one not as robust I would say. And the Francois Louis are great mouthpieces to match and not overly expensive.

i agree, i tried Theo Wanne but Francois Louis was better, more open sound, i will post a proper recording soon instead of my ipad mic recording, there is much difference.

yes certainly, as i also have a rovner versa (Eddie Daniels designed ligature) and a regular rovner light ligature that came with the MB2. not sure when i will get round to it, busy recording other stuffs at the moment but i will try my best 🙂

It was mentioned that the the larger central screw and extra washer was better, this link is to the thomann site with the FL Ultimate Ligature, Question….. is this the same. Also I need it for my newly aquired JJ.DVNY is it the correct fit, as the JJ has a slight taper, unlike the Berg Larsen.

Yes mine has a T stamped on it as well, yes I ordered the extra brass washer (level expander) with the lig, good job I did otherwise it wouldn't have fitted properly. I can remember some manufacturer offering a set of different pressure plates with the lig who is that?

Where can I order an extra washer from? my FL fits but has to be done up as far as it will go as the mpc I want to use it on is just slightly thinner than standard

try Michael Duchstein in Berlin, link is above in #52, that's where i got mine, they simply fitted a slightly longer screw and washer, maybe try that.
you could find something similar lying around huh? might save you the hassle of ordering and waiting, just a thought.

Mike Duchstein or sax.co both do what they call a "level expander" or posh washer! this is the part you need.

Yea £5.00 but then the ligature can fit a much wider choice of pieces.
