Today, I broke the little finger on my left hand! I am off sick with all the time in the world to play my sax and I can't play! Bugger, why wasn't it a leg, or a toe ("be careful what you wish for, Martin, it might just come true!")

That's it.

Cheers

ouch!

I'm not sure what that limits you to on a sax, django reinhardt only had 2 functioning fingers to play guitar with :erm:

Are you just unable to play certain notes or is the instrument completely useless without a pinky?

oh moz, how crap! just sit back and listen to loads instead. oh and drink tea with your good hand. otherwise youll look like a snob
I wish you well my friend 😉

Tough luck and sympathy but now you know why left handed nose picking is generally frowned on.
All setbacks have advantages, all you have to avoid is low Bb, B, C# and all G#s. Look on it as an opportunity to learn bass sax or alternative fingerings.
Get well soon.

Moz,
Posted the funny and then realised that you can borrow my Delrin keyless flute, made in Barnstaple which would allow you a certain amount of music making? Only uses three fingers of each hand with remarkable resemblance to sax fingering except in D Concert.
Alternative, nip down music shop and buy a low pitched Generation whistle with the same fingering.

Martin you daft sod - how did you break it? Hope it's not too painful and mends soon.

Sue,

Carelessness, poor equipment, and a crass disregard for personal safety!! Isn't too bad unless I hit the end of the finger...then I squeal like a stuck pig!

All part of life though, there are worse things out there; I am not as unlucky as some.
