Think of it as a transciription exercise. I just had a quick go through the first chorus. Pretty sure it's all G and F (concert) Dorian, as advertised.. It just sounds fresh and different because it's used so well. Think I might have spotted a B natural in chorus 3, buit generally I think it' sticks pretty cloely to the recipe.

Until 1:40 I seem to be pretty close to the two modes, then my nature makes me play with the wrongest notes: major 3rd and major 7th. At that point dissonance reigns for about 40 seconds. I cannot follow the rules for too long, but I behave again towards the end.

The next modal IOTM will probably work on "how to play the wrong notes". Not as easy as it seems. I even bought Liebman's book at the time (chromatic approach...), but I stopped on page 5, when I realized that "avoiding the right notes" is more fun.

Aldevis: I remember you saying that you took ages to find a good position for micing (miking, mikeing?) a soprano but you never said what it was. If it's not a secret could you let us know?

I've been quite rough this time, about positioning.
On a table in front of me, sitting down, I put a noype ribbon and a cm3 small condenser from a linked company. As aligned as I could, then I panned them at about 11 and 1 o'clock.

I would say it was two feet away pointing to the lh spatula on a 45 degrees angle.
