Recommended file type: mp3.

There is a 2 MB limit, I would suggest encoding at 128 kbps if you have an option in your mp3 conversion software.

Please start a new topic for each sound clip (unless you are attaching a few related clips all at once)

Any technical queries please ask in this thread.

CONVERTING TO MP3:

Most recording software records to wav or aiff format which is too large for attachments. To convert a wav or aiff in iTunes on a Mac you need to import your file to iTunes, select it, then in the "Advanced" menu you should see "convert selection to mp3". The mp3 will end up in your itunes music folder, probably in a folder called "unknown artist" if you didn't give it a name in the iTunes playlist.

First you may need to set itunes to convert to mp3:

• Preferences (In iTunes Menu at top left)
• Click on Advanced
• Click on Importing
• Set mp3 encoding to 128 kbps

EDIT: The process is the same on PC (thanks rs2sensen) you just need to download iTunes for Windows.

Pete, the process is also the same on the PC. The PC and Mac versions of itunes are near identical.

Please bear with me, I'm really not very good with
computers!

I have something I'd like to post as a soundclip, which at the moment is on a CD. Can it be done? If so, is it relatively easy? If it's any use, I have downloaded iTunes on to my PC. Thanks for any help.

Bob, yes it can be done. Once the CD is in your drive, iTunes should open with that CD in its own playlist on the left. Select the track and follow the instructions above.

I presume you own the copyright? If not you can post a link to the file but please don't upload it to the Breakfast Room.

I do own the copyright, it was written and played by me, and produced by accident.

It's about 2 min 20, is that ok?

Should be no problem as long as its less than 2 MB which is the froum maximum for attachments. I have to set a limit because I'm paying for the download bandwidth, a system I may need to review in the future.
