Correct...these is a couple of interviews in Saxophone Journal with Bert and he also wrote several articles in the same magazine on Multiphonics. He suffered with polio as a child and spent all his life in a wheelchair...an interesting character...

That's cool. Not quite so cheap here.
They run around $3000-3300 new, cheapest one I see is Thomann US for $2800usd.... but then shipping and customs to Canada would put it up over $3000usd.

If you can figure out what the best PRC-made saxophone available right now is, and what necks are compatible with it, IMO the lowest possible (retail) option is a PRC offering with a boutique neck.

That is a lot to ask of a newbie, purchaser however. Starting to research how to match up non-factory necks with horns ?

When his budget is actually quite good just to buy an original factory instrument of a reputed name/long track record.

For a first-time new-horn purchase....the latter seems less complicated (?) and one is not likely to mess it up regardless of the horn choice at that price.

I really think you should try some different makes before buying… Sax.co in the UK are quarantining/decontaminating their saxes after trial I believe… they’re a massive shop, so maybe more feasible for them, but if you’re definitely going to buy from one shop, discuss trying one at a time with a giant deposit to convince them you’re serious. Then you can try a tenor 😎 - and definitely try Yanigasawa - their tenor felt too cramped for me, and I have smaller hands than you 😉 (also sounded too perfect and pure). Good luck.

Yup, I definitely will be trying before buying. I just can't right now because the store is not allowing the trial of woodwind and brass instruments at this time.

The YTS62 is retailing for about USD$3,300 here locally.

I'm sure he would give you a rundown on Cannonball altos whilst covering delivery and other details you may be finding problematic :

Absolutely! Your local Long & McQuade store on Bloor St. should have a good stock of Cannonballs. Phone them before going to confirm that they have some Cannonball altos for you to try.
