What an exiting day I went over to see ed pillinger in London with tony and I can honestly say we were treated great a warm welcome after a bit of traveling and all the mouthpieces all ready and waiting for us to try I tried the brillhart copy first which was very nice and then the super king which was not as nice but still good and I tried One that ed added in which was nice . But then I tried the ny meyer bros copy 5*m and wow it blew me away the bottom notes seemed to pop out easily as did the top I was playing with a v16 1 1/2 which played much better than any other makes and strengths I tried . It had more brightness and edge than I thought I wanted but I love it . Just to finish I think ed is a true master craftsman and with the great service and great pieces I would only ever be going to ed for advice or a new piece if anything happened to this one I really really hope not :)

Resurrecting an old thread...
I bought a 1946 MK111 King Zephyr back in March and it’ll take something rather special for me to replace this horn, it’s been used n abused in its past it’s definitely been a players horn.
It had a full overhaul before i bought it, the notes just pop out from top to bottom (especially the bottom notes)
Great horns

I'm Having problems with the lower notes

Zephyrs respond really easily down low
Agreed, mine just pop out

But then I tried the ny meyer bros copy 5*m and wow
The same as i have, great mouthpieces.

Great. Try and find a Brilhart Personaline for it. It's the sweetest alto combination I've heard so far.

I’m on the look out, although i did try my vintage ponzol the other day and it suited the sax, just can’t get a pop test on it so may send it out to be looked at.
