"The History of the saxophone in words and music" by Stephen Cottrell, 2 CDs and a twenty thousand word essay - anyone got this, know anything more about it than I can google? Personal opinions, reviews etcetera, would be appreciated.

Never heard of it, so sorry on that point. I would highly recommend the book "The Devil's Horn" by Michael Segell.

It is available online from a specialist CD supplier based in the UKcalled www.clarinetclassics.com

I only found this out a few days ago and was thinking of getting it. If you do get it let me know how it si? Apparently it was reviewed favourably by the Independent on Sunday. There are a few other CDs on the site incluing ones by John Harle and Marcel Mule.
