Playing the saxophone Have you hooked up?

Playing music with or seeing others play who post on the forum? Over twenty years ago we used to have a group of players in my area who would meet up, try each others' horns and go to each others' gigs when we could. That's mostly in the past now in favor of just meeting up at the annual Symposium in Virginia. Now I know some of us in the States know each other, but what about in Europe? Do you guys ever meet or go to each others' gigs?

In the dim and distant past I arranged 3 café meets, Manchester, London and Cardiff.

I used to organize Rock & Roll Saxophone workshops/-meetings down in south Sweden (Scania). With or without leader. RockSax is not a big thing here. Used to be 3-5 players that showed up. We played, tried differnt saxes, mouthpieces and other equipments, drank coffee, BBQ ..... it was just a nice hang! When the pandemic was over it was just two honkers that was still blowing sax. The bands and venue places (pubs, kafés .....) were closed down or had changed directions. I have plans to have new workshops once a month. A saxplayer from Boston is with us via internet in the woodshed. We can't interact, but that's ok ..... .

I met up with some wackos from here last January at NAMM. That was fun. Several others from the LA area too over the years. Looks like I’ll be meeting two more in September. Yeah I’m going. January it appears the West Coast contingent of The Wrecking Crew will be bashing the Navy Ball. @lig are you going ? @RyanL are you going to the Navy Symposium January ‘26 ?

Not for years, dear.

I had the pleasure of meeting @Vetinari a few weeks ago, because he was kind enough to give me his sling-which-isn't-a-sling.
It looks like the next 'Big Ideas Big Band' event at the Carlton Club, Whalley Range, Manchester M16 will be on Mon 5th Oct, 7pm. If anyone from these parts would like to meet, it is likely to be a good event - top session band of RNCM-types doing it for the love, £10-£15 tickets. Mon nights are usually easy to keep free, in my world. Feel free to PM me.
