Mouthpieces Chinese metal mpiece

Getting back to m/ps, I bought a Chinarizhao gold plated piece. Delivery took three weeks but postage was free. The sound is huge and edgy, single screw lig works well, very pleased with it, easy to keep in tune. Have since got an old Link stm which has a rounder sound but is not as loud. The Link is my current favourite but no regrets at buying the Chinese one, great value.

Looking at the pictures of that one , the finish looks quite rough. They never show all aspects of the piece but from what you can see, it looks like there's a step where the baffle enters the chamber, the chamber itself looks as if it is simply a drilled hole with machining marks remaining through it. There's no visible tip rail. With this lack of attention to detail I think it would be quite hit and miss as to whether you get a good player or not. However, having said that there seems to be a great variance in quality on some of the more expensive new pieces from "reputable" makers, so I suppose you pays your money and takes your chance.

I have a different one to this for tenor and I thought it sounded quite good at first but I'm noticing a lot of strange overtones and harmonies when you push it and get into the different ranges of sound. These are cheap enough to use as a blank for anyone fancying a go at a bit of refacing and fettling, so there'll be no tears if it all goes wrong lol.

I now have one identical to your photo, Alansto, a tenor mouthpiece in a No 7 lay. I was so impressed that I also bought its gold plated brother in an 8. I find them reeeeeally good and have not needed to do any resurfacing. I have found myself using stronger reeds tho. Mine took just 10 days for one and 5 days for the other to come to UK from China. My sax playing friends are also ordering theirs. Good luck, mate.

Your mantra is letting you down, big time Colin. No wonder you're twitching.

Hypnotherapists (I am qualified) will all tell you that the unconscious mind has no concept of the word 'not'. So if you are telling yourself "I DO NOT need" - your brain is hearing "I DO need"

Unsure? Well what happens to you if I say to you " DO NOT THINK OF A PINK ELEPHANT"

Go on ....... you gotta admit you did :w00t:
