Me too, to be honest, but I have promised the long suffering Mrs F that I won't buy any more saxes for a while, and I think a monster like this may stretch even her patience...... 😡

Tempted, but I'm not getting one. Honestly, student loans are for other things.

No chance for me either, I think the bari is probably the lowest useable sax in all honesty.

Basses, contra and sub contra basses have nothing but comedy value for me, just my opinion though.

Plus that really would be tricky getting that one past the good women without her knowing!

But in all honesty thats pretty amazing, really great to see these instuments becoming more "available".

They also have an electric piano for just under ?300, it doesn't look crap either.

Like pjonah, I think a Bari is as low as I'd want to go (never mind how much space one of these beasts would take up) although I do like the sound of a bass sax. This is a great price though, especially if the quality compares to what I've heard about their smaller models.

I've heard that some of these Asian basses have left little finger spatula in the old style, modelled on 1930s saxes. Hard to tell about this one from the photos on the website.

And basses do take up a lot of room. My Keilwerth/Martin Grunewald low A monster is really in the way.

The latest issue of Saxophone Journal magazine has an article written by LA studio musician Bill Liston about his experience recording the soundtrack to Spiderman 3 on his bass sax. Bill and another guy, John Mitchell (?) had their own two bass sax section in the orchestra. Bill Liston's bass sax is the same brand and similar vintage to Pete's bass sax, 1920s Buescher.
