Bouncing key

I have recently had my '39 'crat serviced. Just the other day I noticed that when I release the F key esp going from F to F# the cup bounces and it actually makes the sound of the note waver.

I'm really not the sort of person to do technical jobs and I shall get John to look at it but has anybody else had a similar experience?

Is the key bouncing or binding up momentarily? In the case of the latter problem, sometimes a weak spring or a slightly bent/mucked up key rod/tube can cause this problem with any one or all of the lower stack keys.

I agree with Michael. How recent was your service? if it is a binding key due to a burr or a bent rod or mis aligned post then this should really have been picked up on the service, unless it has happened since. I would first look -as Michael has suggested - at the spring as it has probably been weakened.

try

compare the spring tension on the lower stack by holding down the F# pad (thats the pad above the F key with the arm that keeps the G# key closed) then press down and release the F, E and D pearls these keys should really in my opinion have the same strength.
