I liked the feel of Tony Bennett's recording and his vocal is pretty much in the centre of the mix, so I could mainly get rid of him in Audacity and play baritone with his band.
But you can still hear Tony's ghost in the background. I think he is singing "what have you done to my lovely recording ?".

That sounds like a great technique. Didn't know you could do that with Audacity. Is there a karaoke feature then or something?

Actually, I just looked and found a 'Vocal Remover' or did you use the 'Vocal Reduction and Isolation' ?

You can do it in various ways in Audacity and there are instruction videos on YouTube to show how. The "old school" way is to split the stereo into two mono tracks and "Invert" one of them. Anything in the middle of the mix will cancel itself out provided that there isn't stereo reverb on it. It can impair the balance or equalisation of other instruments, but this one worked OK. Poor Tony Bennett.

I made another baritone recording, just two choruses in concert C and adapting Nigel's BIAB file for my own purposes.

Both good, but I prefer this recording to the first one.
I found the ghost of Tony Bennett in the background slightly disconcerting.

It's the format that's the problem....disnae work with my Audacity or Ableton...did internet search and found m4a is a Mac-format not compatible with the software of lesser mortals

Anyway converted to MP3 and bashed at it

Many apologies.
I thought that m4a was a a universal format like mp3. I didn't realise that the great unwashed Microsoft masses couldn't use it.

I have created mp3 versions of the two backing tracks and put them into the Dropbox folder.
