Bop Scales can you help me?!

Hi Paul / Tom,

yeah CDEFGABbB will get you a dominant bebop scale you could use over C7. Bad news? There are different bebop scales for the different chord qualities (eg major, minor, half-diminished...)

Dominant is probably the most common, but usually it's played descending... CBBbAGFEDC, and often starting from the C or E or G.

Basically they work to put the chord tones on the downbeats in the bar - assuming you start on a downbeat.

Have fun!
Simon

The bebop scale on a major tonic never really works for me, but the other one, ie over a IIm7 V7 (same scale) is great.

Works best descending as someone pointed out on another thread.
