Looks remarkably like the one sold a few months ago "In factory new condition" that had been bought and played once then locked away for forty years.

That's over half what I paid for my house LOL It's not worth it to me.

For that money you could buy sop, alto, tenor and bari from Yanagisawa, Mauriat or Yamaha. and not the bottom of the range either. You'd still have loads left for some fine mouthpieces and a good stash of reeds. What would give more enjoyment?

Is it any more than a Taxi driver would pay for a car ??
In Five Year's the car is worth **** Diddley.
In five year's this will be worth?........... a shed load!

A taxi-driver doesn't need a vintage Aston to do his job though, most would consider the use of a modern vehicle at a fraction of the cost to be more than adequate (not to mention more reliable) to earn their living with.

I think what you are trying to get at is, will a pro sax player need this much sax to do his job ? ! ?
Well.....yes. that is why(most) pro player's covet them so much.

If i were a young jazz muscian just starting out ......and if i had blown this horn, & the feel was as good as it look's. i would go for it.
Remember this horn is Nr new, (Adequate).....This is Art not Taxi driving, (more reliable)..... This is a MK6

At the end of the day, this sax (if it's a good one) will give more back to its player than any other sax made today. bar none!

I'd be suspicious that this horn isn't that great a player, otherwise why would it be so clean... everyone knows there were some pretty dodgy MkVIs as well as the good ones. That's just too much money to spend on an instrument to use for you job, whether as an amateur or pro.
You can pick up a less tidy but nicely playing six for much less.

There are plenty of pro players who choose not to play MkVIs and not because of lack of availablility just as not every rock guitarist wants a '59 Les Paul Standard or every violinist wants a golden period Strad (ah, hold on, they do, oops). 😀



Maybe I'm viewing it too much through the eyes of a predominently classical (hate that term) player, maybe if I were a jazz bore, sorry, musician, 😉 I'd be raving about this sax.

I was going to say the same thing- the "its a MK VI" therefore it's the best sax in world argument doesn't wash for me, I've played a few Mk VIs and most of them weren't any big deal, though one was an absolute stunner....
