I haven't been able to get any practice for the last month or so, due to a million and one things getting in the way.I pick up my Sax today and I found after a couple of minutes my jaw felt very tight is this due to my lack of playing recently or something else

My money's on 'Anxiety' due to 'lack of playing recently'.

Relax man - do some listening and play along with a tune you know well and can unwind with...
Simon

Incidentally 'Something Else' is a great album. Cannonball Adderley's the man!

Yup, it could be tension or maybe your embouchure is tiring very quickly due to lack of playing, but that might be dependent on how long you've been playing - if you're a relatively new starter it could take longer to 'find' your embouchure again, which could be resulting in the aforementioned tension.

'Something Else' is indeed a great album.... to play along with! There's a couple of good mid-pace tracks (Autumn Leaves and a fairly straight laid-back blues) that are quite easy to get along with.

Cheers, Bob
