Gidday,

I'm of on travels to Queensland Australia,
Of course I'm taking me sax. I have a house sitting job for three weeks near Brisbane (its out in the country a bit so I can play as much as I like) I will be away for 3 months concentrating on learning my play and getting a tune list together so I can hopefully play in resteraunts.

I wonder if any one here lives in Queensland and is open to a jam. I know Brisbane has a Jazz school, so there should be some good stuff happening on the local scene.

Also some local info on places to hear some music and check out some sax shops, for secondhand saxes and mouthpieces etc would be great to hear from you!

Not long now and I'll be away from the frosty nights of winter time in NZ.

As a house sitter it's my job to feed animals (three cats and one dog) The cats have gotta be locked in before dark as the......Pythons......are quite partial to taking a cat!

Gee wonder what else is lurking out there in Australia........?

I'll keep you posted on my Queensland busking adventures as I do have an internet connection (broadband) for the first 3 weeks.

Yeah Righto toe Old Git, the last time I was away in Bali (two years ago now) I had ants crawling over my horn (they liked the moisture)

Pythons are cool . . . , played in a club in Rhodesia many moons ago, one of the cabaret acts we backed was a dancing snake charming lady young and scantily clad who had two pythons, one night just before her show one of them went missing, panic stations, the club was evacuated immediately, the band rushed to the bar to stock up on provisions and retired to the street to party, after about an hour and no snake to be found, I ran out of dunhills and ventured warily into the club and the bands dressing room to get at my reserves - opened my tenor case - one very large python fast asleep curled up in plush velvet.
Pythons are cool - as long as you keep'em well fed and give'em a comfy place to sleep.
so have fun Jimu and take a large old plush lined sax box and some fresh mice with you - just in case.

Gidday Spike, fresh mice might be the hardest thing...wot with three cats around....our cats in NZ bring in rats and mice and sometime let them go.... I intend to record the Australian bird calls on mini disc

.....sounds like the size of the case attracts the size of it's occupant, good job I don't have a Bari.....

Thanks fella's....yup I'm looking forward to the Aussie lingo and attitude......sort of colourful with barbs...... last time in Brisbane was 1982..... I think it's probably changed alot!!!!

Brisbane's changed beyond all recognition since the early 1980s- my wife's from there and she doesn't recognise pictures of this glass and chrome metropolis she's seen over the last few years......

Naw, cause it would make the sound too tinny, and we all know what they call a beer can....right a tinny.

Timbre is what they shout as they cut down the last remaining tree on the planet.....

Tone is what they call any poncy visitor from the old country, by the handle of Anthony.

You've spotted my weakness, currency forgery and manipulation, cunningly disguised as the Hanson workshop. Use the bell as a feed hopper as I convert pound coins into pennies, although I think politicians have done this before.
