Rebecca, I checked out Al Galladoro's website. That guy is amazing, it says his neck strap is 40 years old and he's still giggin and teaching 😱

His video on the site is very well worth a watch. The tone he gets out of that Alto... absolutely great, the bass clarinet is non too shabby either and I'm not even a jazz fan!

Born in Chicago in 1913 - so he should be 93 ?

The original clarinet slide from "Rhapsody in blue", amazing technique on both clari and sax, I've got an album from him with the Beau Hunks recorded in Amsterdam when he was 86 and a very entertaining Master Class CD when he was 81 including several duets and - in conversation with Dale Underwood, published by Saxophone Journal (may still be available from Ken Dorn at www.Dornpub.com ), absolutely amazing tone and inspirational to say the least.

Jimmy Dorsey was once asked

". . . Al Gallodoro!"

If anyone's interested the Album with the Beau Hunks is "Out of Nowhere" on the Basta label, no idea where I got it from though.
