Mouthpieces Absolute Mouthpieces News

The new series doesn‘t look printed at all. The surface appears much smoother than on other 3D printed mouthpieces. That suggests sone handfinishing?
I still play your ST model on soprano and alto and they are great. The steel models are gone from your offering, which is a pity.
Whatever, welcome back!

Hi, they are 3d but not filament printed and they are still hand finished.
If the market demands it, the St and Plus series will also return.
It costs a lot to produce and finish them and in recent years I haven't sold enough of them to justify the effort.
Thanks

I’d be interested in the St tenor. I like step baffles for the funky stuff, and stainless steel is easy to care for and lasts forever.

Be aware about slight modifications along the ST history. My ST mouthpieces are from one of the first production runs. For alto I wanted to try something with even more punch than the ST and ordered a ST+. Maybe 6 month before Absolute temporarily shut down. The baffle was higher just as I had expected but the interior was smoothed out compared to my ST and also a bit larger. In the end the current ST+ was not much different to my ST and went back to Italy. I guess the initial ST+ must be a beast. So when playtesting a ST your experience might depend on the „generation“.

They require a manual finish very similar to classic ebonite and the internal design is the evolution of our Pro Brass with some small modifications to get the best performance from this material.
The design inspiration is the old mouthpieces without steps, but adapted to modern needs.

Lovely mouthpieces! The pictures are a bit different to the ones you posted before. The brass ring on the shank is new and they seem to be polished compared to the previous 3d printed. The inside has less of a step where the chamber enters into the more when I compare it to the version on your homepage. Are there notable differences to the first version of your 3d printed ones? The latest pictures look tempting, but is this the final version or are they still evolving?

This is a completely new version, in a few days it will be available on our site, without replacing previous versions.
And they will also arrive for Alto, we are testing them, and finally the Studio (classic) version with narrow chamber.
🙂

I have seen the first 3d model and the finish is impressive.
Is there much hand work involved?
This is also the first question I asked when i had them in my hands. They don't look at all like other 3d printing I've seen. Baffles of the other models are "simpler" than this, if I remember correctly
