Our dear Mollie, 14 year Collie-Australian Cattle Dog cross, was put to sleep this morning.

She went downhill rapidly a few weeks ago, not eating, hardly moving and not herself. The vets thought it was a tooth infection as she had a rotten tooth and a high white blood cell count but antibiotics didn't make a difference. We were booked in this morning to have the tooth removed but they found the mass, did a scan and diagnosed cancer of the spleen which had spread to her liver and stomach. She had lost a kilo in weight in a week.

She slipped away immediately, she was ready to go. I'm gutted 🙁

At peace and no more pain now.

RIP Mollie-Moo XXXXXXXX

It's heartbreaking when a pet dies, especially if you have to have them put to sleep. Having gone through that I won't have another. You have my sympathy.

14 is a good innings for a dog of her size, but of course we always want a bit more time with them.
You clearly gave her a loving and secure home, and you can't do better than that..
bless her RIP

Sorry to hear of your loss. The nice thing about dog breeds is that when it comes time for another, if you find another with the same breed characteristics, will see a familiar resemblance to the one you loved. Or even if a little different, will feel at home with the new one.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
