zhht film uses gore-tex material, using paper, felt, sheepskin, gore-tex laminated
Features waterproof and breathable, disadvantages white surface is easy to get dirty
It is recommended to use regular sheepskin pads, zhht pads are not in stock, and are produced according to customer orders

That he responded so quickly gave me some confidence, also that his english was good. I'd say give it a go. It's your money, not a lot of money to lose if it goes wrong, but Windplus generally have all sizes in stock, no customs delays or charges, quick delivery.

My interest was for an experiment, hence needing cheap pads. If it's for any sax you like than I'd stick to the well known brands.

Emailed ZHmelody.com and received a reply in 2 days stating that the do have saxophone pads in stock and that they deliver to UK.

Go for it. What's holding you back? Covid is erasing and the world is returning to normal as far as Christmas freight tims go. So what's the hesitation? As suggested before call up and ask about the specific items you after and they will tell you.

I also mentioned that because we all lament the demise of independent music (and not) shops, but we never hesitate to buy it cheaper online from the Far East, even if it means waiting months and hoping you actually receive what you ordered in the first place.

You do have a point there.

Down under we have to wait for everything. Doesn't matter what part of the globe we order from. But we do prefer to order from the greater EU and America where we can.

Thanks for all your thoughts. The pads are for a Michael White Alto from the 90's, verdigris all over all over it.
Gonna teach myself some sax repair using Stephen Howard's book and Matt Stohrer youtube channel.
Thinking about using the cheaper pads as I will no doubt destroy a few fitting them.
Will use Windplus for my Yamaha Saxes when needed.

If it's to learn DIY skills I'd certainly go with cheap pads as you say... assuming they arrive!

I can't say what would imitate an SBA. I only played one once, many years ago. Sorry.
I can recommend a Selmer SA80II wholeheartedly, but I don't suppose the two sound or play alike.
