Hi,
I'm probably more interested in rock, blues than Jazz although I listen to a lot of Jazz simply because that's were the sax seems to dominate. However, I always take a punt when it comes to buying music. I love music that makes it own way. I wanted to share a little of what I've bought recently in the hope that you may recommend something in a similar vain:

- Morphine: American Alt Rock. Sadly disbanded after the front man, Mark Sandman, died in 1999. But WOW. 2 string electric bass, barri and drums. For me great stuff. Who needs over-driven guitar to rock out when you've got Dana Colley. Check out Cure for Pain, My Head's Got Wings and Candy which are among my favorites.
- The Comet Is Coming: Indie Rock - I bought The Afterlife yesterday in HMV and I'm listening to it as I write. Synth, drums and reverb drenched Sax. This is going to be on my play list for a while whilst I take a break from Stanely Turrentine.
- Matthew Halsall: A different vibe from the two above. Matthew is a Trumpet player. I bought Colour Yes yesterday too. Much more laid back vibe. Great interplay between Matt and the sax player Nat Birshall.
- Bohren Und Der Club of Gore: Really dark atmospheric stuff. Think subtones drifting out of sleezy bar on a rainy night with a hard drinking american private eye lamenting about his next assignment. Not something to play on early first dates with someone unless it's really not going very well and you haven't the heart to tell them. Play this, they'll just quietly slip out whilst you're in the kitchen. Then open a bottle of scotch and watch the rain falling against the window.
