Weird sound...

I really had no clue what to say...I was practicing long-tones, and I noticed, whenever I play loud on a middle E, I keep hearing like a lower note thats really quiet...but it's annoying me....is this a sign of over blowing? When I play quiet it wont be there, just when I play really loud. (This is on a Ref 54 Alto with RPC 90R and 2.5 Javas)

Tried to sound as clear as I could so I hope someone understands my problem... >.<

Thanks

Since the middle E is an harmonic of the lower E, the latter might be what you are hearing. Perhaps blowing really hard doesn't give your octave key much influence, allowing the lower tones to seep through. In that case, try tightening your lip slightly more whne blowing it, and see if it disappears.

If I had a Ref 54/RPC, I'd expect it to play for me.

Try saying to it "Middle E, please!"

Haha... the middle E does come out...

Thanks, I'll try it tomorrow when I can play on it again.
