Warm-up

An old friend called on me at the weekend, conversation led to spare time, yes I was learning the banjo and tenor sax , huh! she I love the tenor will you give a tune?
Well it takes 15 mins to warm the thing up, so you have sort of lost the moment,
Question is do professionals allow time before a concert for this warm up or is jump out of the van and get on with it?

Well, I can't speak for professionals, but yes, a bit of warm-up is a good thing to get things working nicely, moisten your reed to the extent it'll work for you, loosen up the fingers, get the airflow going nicely and also quite literally warm-up the horn.
