I seem to have more vibration sound especially in the middle octave? not sure if that the right term, notes B, A, G, than when I first started - bit like an old railway carriage as oppposed to virgin pendolino
Tried new reeds different mouth positions to little effect
any ideas - 2 reed rico royal
Live miles from nearest sax 'shop'
any advice ?

Perhaps an early night might help!

I first started on a 1.5 reed and in a few weeks had what appears to be the same problem. Moving to a 2 or 2.5 reed helped me at the time. It's possible that your wind/embrochure combo is too strong for the 2 rico royals, which I understand aren't as hard as most 2 reeds, and a slightly harder reed would do the trick for you.

Good luck

yep.. overblowing.. hold back a little... i know its hard in the begining to get the note started.. but do try a practice a nice even controled blow..

Both right ! I think, I got some 2 and a half reeds and a 3 Vanderwhatsits and the problem has gone away and I like the sound better too.
Think I'm only little! wheres all that air coming from.?

Am not good at 'practising even controlled blows' though can do it - funny I am an impetuous mostly on the go sort of person
playing the sax is the only time when I am relatively still and focussed!

Hence I think of my sax time as 'Noisy meditation' maybe I will change my name on the site.
thanks for your help

nic

and Thanks for the Good luck
