Reeds Thoughts on Legere Cuts?

I thought you played Boston sax shop reeds, I tried Gonzalez Jazz reeds about 30 years ago they were good but I struggled to find a regular supply back then so stopped using them.
I use BSS on alto; for tenor Gonzalez have been my go to for years. The BSS black are way too dark for me on tenor, next option so far as been Rigotti Gold, but they're a littler harder in tenor than alto and I've not managed to get the strength right.

It's funny, on alto, BSS are softer than Gonzalez, and on tenor it's the other way round!

Following on from @sax panther's post above, I've order a Forestone black bamboo; see how it fares. At £18 it's about the same as a box of Gonzalez Jazz (well a fraction more); so would need to last a good three months or so to be viable from a spend perspective.

Thought I'd just place this here.
Bought these long ago from the shop in Texas.
The 2.75 is okay, but the 3.5 is stiff.
I play a Berg HR 95/0 on a '73 VI Alto.
Berg measures correctly and I play Medium cane reeds or thereabouts.
Only take the horn out once or twice a year for historical fun.
Flutes since the mid '70s.
Dry bag and swim to the boat on the hook.
Silver Picc for Kayak fishing.

Curious as to the cut of these Legere reeds.
Not sure if they even had different cuts long ago.
Thx for the info.

We had plastic reeds back around '60.
Horrible at best. 😀

As a template for refacing purposes, either Legere would be fine. For tonal purposes, cane is vastly superior. I would not consider a reface job that didn’t play well with a cane reed.

My opinion of course.
I really like the American Cut Legere on my tenor. I get a lot of control out of it too - even at subtone at the bottom. Not too brash either.

Alto: different story altogether. Legere - no in a million years, and also tried a Venn at the recommendation of a mate (though he tells me he’s back on cane) - nope, not a good fit.

Can’t imagine using synthetic on soprano… but I find this horn easiest to find cane reeds that I like.

Isn't it somewhat odd that their own product doesn't match within its own "cuts"? There again, neither do other brands - Vandoren Blue Box/Green Box/Red Box...

Why can't we buy a 2.5 Studio cut that feels like a 2.5 American Cut etc. If you can grade them, you can grade them accordingly.

There must be a reason then...

What is it?
The Studio Reed 2.5 was my favorite Reed unfortunately they don’t make them anymore! Why I can’t understand. Like others I tried American and Signature both warped at the top after a very short time!! Bring back the Studio cut
