This is perhaps the best and most comprehensive video I have ever seen covering all aspects of the saxophone. Although at almost 2 hours long, it is a bit unwieldy to watch in one setting, but it can easily be digested in 30 minute segments. Below I have written out an index of topics for the first 30 minutes. I will add the rest as time permits. Any other member is welcome to index a 30 minute segment, and I will be happy to include it in this original post. Enjoy!

I watched it from start to finish a few weeks back. Impressive playing from those guys. I was surprised they talked about slap tonguing. Is that part of normal playing? I thought it was just a gimmick for guys like James Carter. Shows how much I know.

Just posted this in beginners, then came across your post in teaching, had watched a few months ago, an excellent resource.

Yes I am going to delete your thread as it is a duplicate :)

listening to The Jazz Ambassadors last night reminded me of this excellent video and since there are a lot of new players joined the Cafe since @jbtsax brought this video to our attention I thought I would revive it.

Restarting with Sax after a 50 year break I have been scouring the web looking for useful information. I found this place a few days ago, and yesterday I found the link below. "Saxophone Standard HD" is a 2 hour video by two groups in the US Army Field Band that give instruction, tips and hints from beginner to advance student levels.

I really like their approach of speaking about a subject and then demonstrating it. And then as a "summary" they play a part of a piece that that shows you how it all sounds. I expect this is most useful to new students.

In addition to this 2 hour instructional video, they have about 50 more videos on other topics.

The video starts with a Chamber Quartet and a Jazz ensemble picks up to cover Jazz, Swing, and big band about 3/4s of the way through.

Very well produced and a lot of good info - I would like to hear what others here think of it.

This reminded me that there is still about an hour of the video remaining that needs to be indexed to complete the project. Any volunteers?

Spring break is starting come Friday, and I could use some good reminders. I can do it then, but before then, more physics homework...
That would be great. Then maybe we could ask the mods to edit the original post and add the information to keep it all in one place.

Threads merged, happy to update original post when index is done

Indeed. I've seen these folk and they are simply amazing..

You should see the same guys from the Navy, they are even better!* :p

*This is perhaps a slightly biaised comment as my dad was in the Navy (French Navy, but it doesn't matter, seamen's solidarity knows no frontiers) so I grew up learning that the Navy was better in every way...
