Started Whistling again

Anyone know why I might have started whistling again >.< I've been away over the weekend and got the old alto out for a sesh today and I'm whistling in the octaves mostly E and F#. Tried changing reeds wiggling mouthpiece checked embouchure. I can only assume I must be tightening up for the high notes - does this seem plausible. I don't know why this should be as I stopped whistling regularly about 1 month ago. Typical - played beautifully (for me) all last week 😡

Sounds like your embouchure was just tired and air is slipping out around the edges.

I had this the other day after a heavy day of playing. My embouchure was so tired I couldn't keep that 0 shape around the mouthpiece properly.

It's time to put it down and rest your mouth when it gets like that. Frequent short practise will achieve much more than the odd long session. It's like exercise, for your mouth.

Thanks chaps - you were both absolutely right - played yesterday with new reed and with better embouchure and everything's back to normal.
