Happy New Year, denizens of Cafe Saxophone! I have the honor of hosting the first SOTM of 2026. I have chosen a standard written by one of my favorite composers, George Gershwin. "Our Love is Here to Stay" is a fun and versatile tune that works at a ballad tempo, or a bit up tempo with a swing feel. It is in the key of concert F. A huge thank you to @rhysonsax who went above and beyond. He created lead sheets and backing tracks for several different ways to approach the song.
There are sheets for C, Bb, and Eb instruments with backing tracks in the following styles:
You can play it as a ballad at 95 bpm.
There's a medium swing at 132 bpm.
Then we have a gypsy jazz backing track at 140 bpm.
We also have a medium swing track at 140 bpm, made with the Quartet app.
Finally, as with many standards, there is a verse at the start that is not often played. Well, we have tracks with the verse and a tag where the first two bars of the final line are played three times to wrap things up. There are two versions of this one, one with guitar, and one with piano as the chordal instrument.
