Hi all you gotta listen to smooth jazz fm it's amazing; loads and loads of sax on it. All day long the coolest sax tunes you'l ever hear. A great inspiration for riffs. just get your sax out and jam like crazy to the coolest jazz. I mad cause most of it's in the modern sax style of jazz; which I believe if a little better than te rest...Maybe as I play sax my ears are open for it, I suppose. What say you. ?

Don't know which of many possible stations jazzzz8 could mean but whilst searching for it I found this site:

This site is free and categorizes it's jazz music so you can pick a channel you like.

Fusion, Latin, Dixie, Swing, sax jaxx, piano jazz, guitar jazz, Big band, standards. Everything really and many famous saxophonists to listen to as well.

I'm amazed I'd never come across it before.

That Accujazz station is just terrific! I've mostly avoided internet radio stations until now because the only ones I've visited have always been so pfaffy to get going (plugin 'x' required, or only works with browser 'y' etc.).

I didn't know you could have such control over what you listen to (you can select only saxophonists, skip tracks you don't like and avoid certain artists if you want) and being able to instantly see all the track and album details etc. is great.

As Moz mentioned, they have loads of other stations as well in virtually every genre imaginable. Very nicely done. 8)

I wonder if there's a radio station equivalent of the Google 'I feel lucky' button.

I'm not too sure about these very narrow bands of categorisation such as fusion, swing, guitar jazz etc that are available on these stations - sometimes I want things to be a bit more random, so I could get for instance Ben Webster, the Clash, Mozart, Hank Williams, Jimmy Cliff etc etc all in one place.

Bobby, on the main site AccuRadio.com they have just released 'Build Your Own Channel'. A radio station where you can select a variety of genres personal to you. It's still a work in progress as far as I can tell but it should be the answer to your prayers. 😉

Sounds great Colin....there are loads of stations on here for jazz. I did't realise what a great source for jazz radio it is on the net. Am I dumb?
The I found most impressive for a mixture of modern and old is Smooth Jazz Oasis. F....in awsome.

I m getting studious today; going to try to transcride Santana's Samba PA TI into Bb for tenor of course. Guys listen to it, don't you think this tune will sound awsome?

Umm, sort of. JazzFM on 102.2 became SmoothFM a couple or so years back, playing a lot of softsoul etc, then rebranded as Smooth Radio, playing some of everything from 'the last 50 years and the best of today's music' i.e. chart stuff, it's only criteria being it mustn't be too edgy; about the most radical thing you'll hear is Like A Rolling Stone, but you get lots of EWF, Michael Buble etc. In it's favour, they don't play any of the real banal boyband or girlband stuff, and they don't employ Chris Evans; on the downside, they have loads and loads of those really tedious radio ads. Probably best avoided unless you need some easygoin' background music with non-shouty presenters.

You could be right there Martin, there is quite a variety of music on R2, especially once you get away from the daytime playlisted stuff, although even then the non-playlist tunes are quite varied; also some of the more specialised shows in the evening are pretty good too. When I'm in the car I tend to have R2 on if I'm not playing CD's, although I do draw the line at Chris Evans, and Steve Wright is pretty close to the line too - I don't like shouty presenters, if I wanted that I'd listen to Chris @#$%ing Moyles.

If my car journeys coincided better with programme start and end times I'd listen to R4 a lot more, the perfect choice for all your speech-based listening requirements.
