Any info on these? There's a silver one going on ebay, outside what I'd want to pay for a sax, but very pretty - handmade white pads 'n' all!

I forgot to find out what model it was, but if anyone's in the North West and lusts after an SML it's probably well worth investigating. They've probably still got it.

Having just looked at Simon's link it's clear that the SML I saw can't be any more recent than 1982 at the latest. Still well worth investigating though, I would have thought.

Once tried na old SML tenor and it was absoltely gorgeous. This might have bee not do with how well it was set up, but basically big thumbs up from me....

I played an old one too, loved it.
It had a larger bell than the other saxes I've come across, and a huge fat sound.

These are absolute top class horns, I've missed a few bargains over the years. In their heyday they were the direct competitor to old Parisian Henry, and in a lot of peoples opinion more than a class better. If my rom chips serve me well - "Strasser Marigeaux Lemaire" - You need to check on the recommended models, (saxpics.com for instance) but a good version is an excellent investment with a high resale value, very attractive horns and like Robaldo has said the big bell models have a huge fat sound. gruss - spike

There is the most beautiful SML Gold Medal tenor on Ebay, newly listed.

If only I could afford it now. I've looked into these horns before but they're a bit tricky to find, but great buys if you can get them.

I hope one crops up somewhere in March when I upgrade my tenor.

Extremely well built horns, I had an SML alto once which I found to be indistiguisdable from a MK VI in feel and sound.
