Gigs setting up a music group-- anyone interested

are there any players london or south of England that would be interested in setting up a mixed group. Just playing for fun all abilities just a good blowout. I have access to a hall near Heathrow but we could look at other areas. Just an idea at this point I've got a bit fed up playing (or trying to play) alone over the last year...

I'm south of England but it's still a wee bit far to come for a jam session...although close to Heathrow would be handy to land this...

I don't know whether fuel capacity will be enough for 20,000 kms...:thumb:

Would it be better if i kept it to a certain standard...
Just give people a chance to see and respond. Our group covers about 70 miles north/south and about 50 east/west. We rehearse in a place that is inconvenient for most of us, but it evens out the travel a bit (@Jeanette is the nearest o the venue).

Near an airport is a good a idea. I use to take over an American rocksax player (Andrew Clark) to Sweden. To book a ticket from Logan, Boston to Heathrow, London world be better. More options to fly to Copenhagen from London Heathrow. Andrew Clark had been talking about that he want to do a workshop in England beacause he had contact with readers when he wrote about Rock & Roll Saxophone in Saxphone Journal. So the location is good. To keep up the interst in the a group a guest teacher/musician is a good.

I could fly across from N.Ireland for sessions but would probably have to complete customs docs/pay taxes/pay import duty/avoid VAT/produce passport just to get me and my saxophone into UK as we here are now part UK and part EU so probably too much bother.... might be better just to get a rubber boat and paddle across the Irish Sea as it would be simpler.

It's a VERY good idea, actually, considering the hub you have there.

I could see this working if perhaps you can develop a 'regular' rhythm section and then have visiting/traveling folks with layovers pop in and out.

It'd take some logistical talent, but it could be cool.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
