Saxophones Selmer no longer supreme!

If parts 2, 3, and 4 are as long as part 1 (the only one I could get) I don't think I'll be watching 36 minutes of this.

I'd like to hear him on a Buescher True Tone or Holton, with a Woodwind Co. Steel Ebonite or similar. I'm not a big fan of the modern oboe-y soprano sound.

The main issue with instrument-testing videos is the impossibility to separate the contribution of the player from that of the horn, as long as the horn is well designed and in good repair, and mouthpiece/reed combination is playable and matching the horn and the player.

A great player sounds great on any horn.

A mediocre player sounds mediocre, on any horn.

A lousy player ... you get the idea.

It depends where you want to go with your sound. While the Yani appeals to me I can see situations you want the brighter sound of the Selmer. The question is could the Yani be brightened up to your liking by a different mouthpiece? The Selmer Signature sound reminds me of Yamaha sopranos. Selmer afficionados will hate this but it has something yamahaish to the sound. At the price point Selmer has chosen you need to be a bit of a fanboy to go for it. There are a number of less pricey alternatives on the market. Being in Dan‘s shoes I wouldn‘t switch, but tastes are different.
