Yes Bill at the moment it's just a show of interest, many will drop out once a date is confirmed due to other commitments but the more interest we generate the more chance we have of the event happening.

It's great that we are getting this interest, but the thread is getting a bit out of hand with all the posts adding people to the list.

I would like to suggest that instead posting and adding yourself/someone to the list, that we make it a poll, I can then delete all the posts that are just lists of people and it will be easier for everyone to get to the discussion.

I just have to find out how to add a poll to an existing thread, otherwise I'll need to start a new thread for the poll....

OK, I'm getting ready to do the poll, I suggest we have two voting options

This poll will be assuming the event is in Manchester and that a reasonable price B & B is nearby. I am currently thinking of a Sunday daytime event with the option to go into the evening for jam session/gig.

The event would include saxophone tuition workshops, tech workshops, dealers/shops stands with instruments/accessories to try out, coffee drinks and other refreshments.

One issue regarding the proposed poll is that it's not possible to give a close idea of prices. My previous proposal for something similar at Eastleigh involved workshops/performance with Bobby Wellins and Snake Davis. Something like this would of course cost more than not having them . However this is a different venue and if it goes ahead would have more organisational input from the venue than the previous Eastleigh proposal. Funds raised would be primarily for Band on the Wall.

Currently the poll options:

I would hopefully come to this

But please let me know if you think there should be any other options.

Please don't think that price is what I'm suggesting for this one - I was giving examples of what the previous one (proposed for Eastleigh) was costed at. In this case I think it would be up to Band on the Wall. The poll is not up yet, and if my previous message gave the impression to vote based on that cost then perhaps we need to get a better idea of costs before doing any kind of poll.

I think you are right in determining a date/price as the thread will just run and run until a concrete date is set.
But the interest is there from the members in the cafe

I think to get definite commitments a date and at least ball park price would be needed

Is Sunday the best day? Just thinking of people travelling a distance with work the next day if going in to the evening

A Saturday would mean many players who have Saturday evening gigs wouldn't come, besides the club would have their own Saturday evening agenda. Weekdays people who are working would need to take the day off.
