Hi, I am new to this forum but felt I should post something to this thread.

I have been learning the sax for approx 5 weeks thanks to finding this forum and being convinced to go for it with all the great questions, feedback and stories people have posted.

I also happen to ride a CBR600 - I would like a fireblade but am too short.

Hi and welcome

CBR600 is a great bike - one of the best all rounders ever. I think I'd prefer one to a 'blade.

Good luck with the sax - what is it - alto, tenor, what?

I wouldn't mind a Ducati 749 either.

I'm learning the Alto - figured that would be the best to start with. Really love playing and just in the process of deciding which sax to buy as I'm renting at the moment.

Mine's a TRIKE - I need that other wheel to stop me falling over. It's a converted Harley Sportster 1200. Although it is a bit easier than the sidecar combo I used to have, I'm still trying to tame the beast, along with the bari-sax!

I had a couple of old clunkers for commuting when I previously lived in a warm, dry climate.

However, unlike all my 4 brothers and my father, the attraction of two-wheelers passed me by...... it might have been the big yellow stripe up my back which kept me...mostly...in 4-wheeled boxes 🙂

But I did enjoy the effortless power of even my clapped-out old 500 twin Matchless!

My Mum and Dad were into British motorbikes and my Aunt and Uncle - I don't know if they still have them - had a collection of British bikes and used to loan them out to the BBC for filming period dramas. Mum and Dad also told me two funny stories:-

When my Mum was heavily pregnant with me, she was in Dad's sidecar as he went over a humpbacked bridge and Mum was bumped out and onto the road. 'Explains a lot' I hear you say!

Another time, Dad's friend said 'hey let's have a ride of your motorbike' and he hopped on, went tearing off up the road, turned and came back and shouted out to Dad 'Where's the handbrake?' and Dad reached down and shouted back 'In my pocket' - I wonder how the bloke stopped?

One more story actually - in the eighties, Dad was trying to sell a Jap bike he had and this gas board man came round to look at it. He came back night after night, saying 'I really love it, I'll have to ask the wife if I can buy it'. One morning Mum came downstairs and opened the living room curtains and... there was the gas man, sitting on the bike and going 'vroom! vroom' - seriously! He never bought it and Dad eventually swapped it for a Robin Reliant (!), which sold quickly actually.

My brother and sister are both bikers but don't play anything, my dad was a biker in his youth and played piano; I went on one once (a bike, not a piano) and didn't enjoy it, I think I'll take the wimp's way out and stick to my saxes and my Vauxhall.

Mind you, I was doing 70 on the motorway the other day and I was left in the dust by a bloke on a Yamaha EDX2000 doing at least 120. I never realised an electric organ could move that fast.
