Another tool I made. A die holder for rivet splitting installation.
1/2” HSS drill bit, 5/8” deep. Material was hardened. Go slow and keep the cutting lubricant on. Look at the swarf. The long ribbons were the soft areas. The extra fine chips being the hard steel.

Great saxes. Some saxes made/designed in the 30's were the peak of saxophone manufactoring. "The Martin" saxes are good but .....

…..the Committee 1, 2 & 3 are progressively some of the best around. Why ? It’s in the name. The Committee was designed by an “Committee” of Pro players, Engineers and People from the factory.
Take 100 Martins and 100 from Conn, any model(s) or any year from 1920 to 1950.
I’ve yet to find ANY production flaw in a Martin saxophone. The craftsmanship quality is amazing.
I’ve yet to find a Conn without any flaws. Sometimes I wonder if the company allowed drinking alcohol on the job.

In regards to playing. No brand is comparable to another.

That's why a new Martin came with a 50-year factory warranty--50 years! No manufacturer in today's world would even consider such a thing.

Then why shouldn’t it last 50 or more years; the warranty probably excluded ‘natural wear’ which would include anything which could go wrong.
