Playing the saxophone Playing In Extremely High Volume Situations

Pete you are indeed very fortunate! Awesome band and excellent music and balance. What can I say :clapping:

I met Scott Page a few years ago when he was on tour with them. Then again last year. And very fortunate to have him on the book cover.

You take care and keep it going!! Thanks for the post.
Scott Page makes me sick!!!! With jealousy :optimistic: He's an absolutely insane player! The way he floats so fluidly around the octaves is just stunning!!

Fortunately, I do not have to depend on surviving overly loud situations to make a living. When it's too loud, I put in ear plugs. If it's still too loud, I add shooting muffs (in bright red, just to try to make the point). If it's still too loud, I walk.

I'm sure not going to put any further damage on my hearing for the sake of a $50 or $100 bar gig. If the band can't manage volume, then they don't get my best playing. I'll play as best I can with plugs or muffs, and that's what they get. The days of putting myself on the line for the band are long since over for me. Not a one of them is going to risk his health for me.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
