Hi Ray,
Inside the case of my new 'Venus' baritone ( I've been watching too much 'Allo,Allo'), The sax and all components have white muslin? bags, and there's even a pair of white gloves! A nice touch, but I feel it's too much trouble to use them. I pick up my saxes by the bell and body, and might wipe them down once a month if I think about it. Cleaning mouthpiece and reed though, is most important after every use. In the old days, when the gig was finished, the roady threw all the gear in the wagon and dissapeared, not to be seen 'till the next night. I used to get loads of sore throats!!!
Reading the dots? gave it up years ago, 'ROCK' was more exciting and proffitable!
Taz, I will be posting a sound clip when my new Metalite M7 arrives. The existing noname 'piece that comes with it is very good and blows the whole range easily, EVEN WITH A FIBRACELL 2 STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX! (Baris must be easier to play Nick
), but GAS wants to make sure.
There was one problem with the sax and I will keep you all on tenter hooks about it, - Oh all right, no I won't.
Checking the sax over before playing, I found the neck receiver, brace screw to need further tightening. Had I not checked it, there would have been unseen movement, putting a load on the receiver/tube soldered joint. So check all brace screws on your saxes, you never know!!!!
Apart from that, it seems an excellent piece of kit
