Hi all, I've read a couple of thread where "overtones" have been mentioned. I do long tones (as per Larry Teal) every day and have notice a real difference but can anyone tell me what an overtone is and how do I do it.

Thanks chaps.

Sharon

Hi Sharon,
for a start go to Pete's main site - go to saxophone lessons - click through to the Harmonics page - for an introduction. Listen to his audio example.

simon probably has something on his good oil-field pages also

Thanks you two - I thought it would probably be on this site or Simon's but didn't know what it was or where I should look. Will check it out now.

Simon I'll also check out your SAS thingy while I'm at it. I like structured practice as it uses time well, and feel I'm getting a lot out of the stuff I'm doing. But, like overtones I'm sure there are techniques I don't know of which could help me overall.

Sharon 🙂

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
