they look like a lot of fun, with plenty of sax potential. any band with a stnd-up bass gets my vote....

Too right Jules, or even a stand-up bass! I'd love to be in a band without one of those grunty electric ones (even though I played one for about 30 years). i tried playing a stand-up bass for a while, but I couldn't get it to.

A mate of mine plays slap double bass, and he did a turn with our band one night. Single-handedly he turned Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Pride & Joy" from guitar-god blues into pure rockabilly. Guitarist was well pissed off - the bass player got all his applause
And whats wrong with pure rockabilly!? Should be just as challenging for any self respecting guitarist to show of to!

I'm sooooooooo looking forward to this, like DaveW said, its just what I need to get this year back on track. I'm so glad that my audition was the night before my Dad died, so I was able to tell him all about it. I know he was so chuffed about my sax playing because he'd been telling all the nurses!
Our first gig together is a wedding tomorrow night so I'll let you know how it goes, and if I've still got any hearing left that will be a bonus!
OG, and The Hunt, you'll be pleased to know that the Cheltenham Ball is a dance and not a raffle!
If we ever do any public gigs, then I'll try and get a Breakfast Room members discount! (And Pensioner concession for OG)

Absolutely nothing at all - unless you are guitarist who spends hours trying to get SRV solos note perfect. Sad, really......

No, nothing wrong with rockabilly at all! Not knocking anyone's musical or playing ability it seems to me like a lot more fun to go with the flow and pitch in with whatever's happening around you than to painstakingly recreate someone else's solo note-for-note. Unless the money's good enough >:)

Good news, Taz. Hope the first gig went well.
You do realise that offering discounts to OG means that one of us Lunnuners will have to give him a lift, don't you? Back of your bike, Smiffy?
