Hi folks
Here's what I suspect is a really naive question ... sorry if it is!
I've been playing sax for about four months now. Started on a reconditioned TJ Horn Alto with nice tone and a really free moving key action - even my uneducated fingers could fly up and down (.. well ... sometimes 😉 )
Anyway - I took the plunge and ordered a new Hanson SA5. It arrived yesterday and - without doubt - it's a great piece of kit. However, the keys are much stiffer than they are on the TJ Horn. No doubt thats only to be expected from a new saxophone - and I guess it might also be a feature of the Hanson.
The question I have is ... will the keys become less stiff as I play it over the next few weeks? Should I take it for minor adjustment to a local woodwind repair shop? (I know Hanson will do it for me but I don't want to post it back for a very simple adjustment). Or - lastly - should I do nothing in the expectation that I'll get used to the different feel in the next few weeks?
Over to you guys - all helpful suggestions welcome
Gordon
